How To Succeed
Focus of Class: This is a very calculation oriented class. There is about the same amount of memorization as biology. The difference is that you have to apply what you learned in chemistry. The math is not difficult; the hard part is knowing what math to do. Knowing the basic ideas that are taught is not good enough, since the potential for careless mistakes is very high in this class. It is essential to practice the necessary math in the problems.

Overall Review:
- DO your homework. This sounds generic but most people just go through the motions instead of taking the time to learn. You used to be able to not take homework seriously and still do well. If are lazy for any unit in this class, you can easily C or lower on the test, no matter how smart you think you are.
- Take every class seriously. There will be many classes when you are bored and want to sleep, but chemistry is not a class you can take lightly one day and pay attention the next. You WILL fall behind and won't be able to catch up at home.
- How to study: Redo every single type of homework not until you get them right, but until you can't get them wrong and completely understand them. If you have done the homework, your study won't have to study nearly as much. Understanding the concepts is not enough to do well on a test. Usually, there are a few different types of problems that you need to have mastered before you take the test. You will not have time to think on the test; you will only have time to do. If you see a problem and need to figure out what to do, you need to study until you automatically know what to do when you see a problem.
